If you will not be using ehu then there is no need to go to the expense of fitting caravan transformer/charger which costs around £100 just for the part.
All you need is a leisure battery, 110amp/hr would give your more capacity & connect it up to your camper & charge it up when you get home. You could also wire it up so it would charge from car as you drove. You would need twin cable on trailer/car sockets or modern 13pin for this wired into car as for caravan towing.
If you use battery sensibly just for taps & led lighting etc you would get several days up to weeks from it. To maintain battery in good condition it should be charged once a month with smart charger whether it is used or not. When you return from a trip then fully charge battery asap, ie don't leave it in an uncharged state for longer than necessary.
