Hey everyone am new to this page. I bought a folding camper last year apennine sterling se 1998 model. Just wondering if any1 has wired spot lights up by the seating area and if so how did you do it as im looking to put some in mine to make it abit more homely plus extra lighting in the nights. Any info will be great thanks lewis
I fitted some flush spots in the lockers, but as you can imagine they did restict the lockers a little.I also used LED lamps because of the heat. Some have used the small plinth type lights or LED strip lights.I fitted a switched fused spur adjacent to a socket that was already in the locker and used the switch on the spur to switch on the lights fed from the socket .I fused the fuse in the spur down to 3amp
Im thinking of putting leds in. I want put them on the foot lockers. Just wondering how i could wire them up as want put thdm on 12v as if im not on electric hookup i can still use them off the battery
I havent bought no spots yet im just wondering how would i go about wiring them up.ive seen these ones as look ok plus got the kit with it do just wondering if it be a easy job or willi have to get a electrician to fit and wite them up

a lot of the diy type kits are easy to fit but most ,although 12v the lights usualy just plug into a mains fed transformer so you do not have to do any connections yourself (remember this is a domestic type light where 12v is not available)I think you need to be looking more like car LED s where you have 12 v dc already
When I'm next at the camper storage I'll try to fish out the lights I built for our Pullman and take some photos, but they were basically as follows:
1x5m Roll LED Lights (MKLights I think from Ebay)
4x1m LED Strip light holder (includes frosted lens)
2x50CM LED Strip light holder
50m 16AMP Automotive cable (I had this from a project on a previous car)
6 LED strip to DC power jack connectors
12 DC Jack connectors
Cigarette Power adaptor
2xDC power splitter (5way and 2way)
Basically strip any coating off the LEDS to allow the connector to be fitted.
Trim Strip to length of holder, test lights are functioning
heatshrink connector (for neatness)
Remove backing and stick to holder.
Rinse and Repeat for the other lights..
This is the tricky part... Working out cable lengths! I was not a well liked person on the first day of our holiday last year while I velcro'd the strips up in the awning then made up the cables to where I wanted the cigarette adapter to plug in.
Basically I put one each end of the awning aiming inwards attached with short lengths of velcro. Then ran the cables back to near the door and use that 12v point.
So you end up with 2 in awning, 2 in main cabin and the 2 small ones are more than ample as reading lights in the bedpods..
All runs very nicely off the 12v with very little draw in honesty.. I did put inline led dimmer switches on each one as they were too bright!
This years potential project is to run a strip out to either the little gazebo we bought or the pup tent the kids stay in... Although I'm swaying to solar fairy lights for both of those at the moment if I can get some decent ones.
Just got a TT and spent our first night. We used the same lights as for our tent - but do need to add more although it was sufficient.
We got a strip light (from Aldi I think) for the central tent...sorry awning. This just wound round the pole and got plugged in. We are looking at the Kampa strip lights which seem to be good to use in both the TT and tent - you can add as many strips as you like but you do need the starter pack.
We also have spots with a clamp, these just clamped on the poles and have an on/off switch and plugged in.
For reading in bed, we found that a rechargeable work/tool light (a long strip LED) with a hook worked fine and better than in the tent.
We will still be experimenting but what we had was fine and yes, we do have fairy lights for the outside but didn't use them this time!
