Hello all

My second post.

Have agreed to buy a circa 2000 Mistral. I have a couple of questions on the back of this...

Are pup tents universal or TT specific?

The tyres look sound with a good tread but havent been changed in the 5 years the previous owner has had it, is there a "recommended" time to refresh the tyres?

Finally, what is the best option in terms of a groundsheet for the awning?

Thanks in advance

Neil

Cabanon and conway underbed tents are the same, sunncamp do universal ones, but the quality isn't up there according to some. Triagano ones are different, though could be used with a little modification. Folding camper underbed tents are designed to take on the elements,so are different again.
If a tyre is 5 years old,(they could be 16)and has good tread, then chances are it hasn't had a lot of use,and they deteriorate more quickly if not used,. They can cause serious damage if they blow out,so for peace of mind,I would change them.

Hi,
Like you totally new to this TT lark we found a breathable groundsheet at Aldi for £19.99 which is 4.5 m by 2.5m We tried our 1st night at a local campsite and the TT came with a solid groundsheet which was not too comfortable to walk on so we are hopeful that the breathable groundsheet is better.

regards

Thanks for your pointers, I'm in Aldi today for other camping needs so I will keep my eye out!

I was not perfectly clear re tyres Miserly, the tyres were new to the previous owner so are 5 yr old; he also stated TT used about 2-3times per year so have had some fair usage

Neil

Welcome to the forum.
It is recommended that tyres are changed at a maximum of 7 years from manufactured date. This should be found on the side wall of the tyre. Inspect them and look for cracks in the side wall and in between the tread. Check the manufactured date, how much they've been used in not really relevant.
It really isn't worth the risk as they are probably not going too be too expensive to replace.

Enjoy!

The use is relevant, tyres have a compound which only activates when warm, preserving the tyres flexibility, hence my comment. A car tyre is used every day,so generally wear out before they deteriorate. 2 or 3 times a year is very little use. Because of the low demand for this type of tyres, you will find ancient tyres in fitting shops here and there,so check the dates on the new ones too!

Thanks for the comments and input. I'll have them changed before our first trip

If i've got the image right below, where do the hooks go on the underbed tent? I'm pretty sure there is no clippable area.

Any advice on how these stay up will be great before I take a £20odd dive!

Six u shapes brackets onto the underside of the beds normally, that the pup tent then clips onto.

On Cabanon TTs - older models, anyway - the underbed tents just hook onto the edge of the bed boards (no specific anchorage points).
