Hello all. We went away for the first time in our TT and had a great time. 3 hours to put it up for the first time, but we are very happy with it. The only problem we had is that the gas didn't seem to want to work correctly. The gas rings and the grill would light but there is no control over the flame. No matter where I turn any of the control dials, I only get a small flame. There was plenty of gas in the bottle but the regulator is the one that came with the TT. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? Do I need to get it serviced and if so where would I get something like that done?

Cheers,

if all you got was a small flame. then it is possible that the regulator is faulty.

it will without doubt be the regulator they are cheap to buy and easy to fit while you are at it get a new hose and 2 new hose clips to suit buy decent quality clips such as jubilee or jcs then replace all every 2 years. When you replce the hose and fit the clips check for leaks this can be easily done with a little soapy water around the joints if it bubbles it leaks

If it was cold and you are running off a blue LPG bottle then it could simply be a vaporisation problem. Use a red bottle in cold weather otherwise I agree with regulator fault

Thanks for the replies everyone. It wasn't cold as it was the weekend just gone which was a scorcher. I'll get a new regulator, hose and clips just to make sure and see how I get on.

I had the same problem 2 weeks ago camping at Salisbury . I was convinced 2 gas bottles had somehow become empty but with a little web searching i realize the problem was my using butane bottles instead of the red propane .

It was a nice weekend and whilst being snug as a bug sleeping i hadn't realized temperatures dropped to freezing overnight .

Propane works to minus 20 degrees but butane will remain liquid at minus 2 or at least thats what i have been told .

Did you try the cooker to see how well it works? Some cookers don't have controllable rings & flame is small & hot.

The temperature didn't come close to zero and I was trying to get it to work in the afternoon. The controls indicate that they should adjust the flame and I did try to boil a kettle on one of the gas rings but got bored waiting for it.

I take it you have a regulator attached to bottle? As suggested then get a new regulator & new rubber gas pipe. Dip ends of new pipe in boiling water to get them to easily go onto the nipples. Take you old regulator to shop to match up with a new one.
