Hi all, we have had a 1997 pennine sterling for a year and the cover that come with it is a poor condition cracked and discoloured so we had to put another tarp under it to ensure it didnt leak over the winter. My question is, i have seen lots of replacement covers on ebay etc and was wondering do we only need the travel cover or should we also get the storage cover and does the storage cover go on top of travel cover or does the travel cover not needed under storage cover for storing the camper.
thanks for any responses.

It's definitely worthwhile replacing the transit cover, so that you are covered for all eventualities, whether travelling in bad weather, or storing.

In terms of further storage covers, if you have a decent transit cover, then you don't need a storage cover, but it is nice to have one, to protect the whole camper.

There are two main types of storage cover; the cheaper, universal, Kampa covers, and the heavy duty, fully water proof covers. The former will keep dirt and some water out, but not all water, and can't, successfully, be used with a dodgy transit cover, without letting water in. The heavy duty covers can be used with a poor condition transit cover, however, you cannot travel with them on, so you need to ensure the camper is protected, whilst in transit.

Personally, I would go for a new transit cover first, then either nothing, a Kampa cover, or a heavy duty cover, depending on budget. One other cheap alternative is to get a decent transit cover, then a standard tarpaulin over the top, when in storage. Not as aesthetically pleasing, perhaps, but effective.

Under Cover in Jersey made my replacement cover about 4 years ago. I sent them the measurements as it was the first one they had made for a Pennine Sterling (1996). If yours is the same, they will have the measurments on file. I think it was around £120 at the time and certainly worth the money as it is very well made and very durable.
