So...... first time out we tried to put the awning up only to find that there was no hole in the centre of the main frame. Not a great start... then out come the carbon fibre poles..... we had a Crusader before with metal poles so whilst the weight of them is better, i think the carbon poles are pants. Straight away one connection broke and they all fall apart when you move.
Anyone know if you can get the metal poles for the 2014 awning?
I have a 2014 fiesta 2 plus 2 and for the first time put the awning up 2 days ago. I had warned my wife they were called a " divorce in a bag" but surprisingly all went well. It might have been because we were in north eastern Greece with good weather, no wind and nobody watching! Thus no pressure.
The only thing I noted was that the front centre upright pole does not seem to line up very well with the short poles that go in the front of the awning as well as the riff support pole.
I tried to correct this by raising and lowering the centre pole but with no success, in the end I put it more vertical than sloping out to the awning to try an alleviate the stress on the joint.
Hope this makes sense!
Ours was easy to put up once we had taken the frame off and turned it round as the hole was at the kitchen end. When we packed it away we had to take the frame off and turn it back round again. Thank goodness my husband is a very calm ex mechanic and now an engineer with tools that travel. Took it back to where we got it and hole now drilled in right place and we will test it in a couple of weeks - i just dont like the poles.
Kimberlina,
Glad you got it sorted. That sort of thing usually happens to me, I hate to think of the fall out with my better half if that had been us!
We have now travelled to Turkey and back, first time with the fiesta, I am so impressed with it and as an aside so glad we got a fiesta with the toilet!
We had the same 'no hole' problem in our 2011 Quartz 2+2, too kimberlina. It stopped us putting our awning up on the campsite which was really annoying.
We went out and bought a drill bit to make a hole in the pole. Hubby had a quick nap and woke up to a sudden 'thought.'
Yes! Hubby's 'thought' was spot on, the pole in our new folding camper had been put together, the wrong way round.
We moved everything out the way and collapse just one side of the folding camper then switch the poles around.
It wasn't a good start to our holiday either.
