Hi all managed to to tear canvas on the Countryman and I need to patch 2 inch square. Could anyone recommend a suitable adhesive or do I have to sew it ?

You can get an isabella tear aid kit...I got one and it worked really well. Or, some people use tenacious tape.

You will need the Type A kit for the canvas.

I've used seam sealant to stick a patch on before - worked fine.......

Sure there must be proper stuff available though.

Hmmm...not sure, ours was the acrylic stuff.

Copydex works well on canvas,though in a non stress area,tear aid or tenacious tape are very good. Sewing is almost always best for larger areas.

I can recommend McNett Tenacious tape having repaired 2 long rips in a combo camp canvas, worked a treat and was malleable and waterproof.

Another recommendation for Tenacious tape. We repaired a rip in our canvas and it's still good 3 years later! Just cut it so it doesn't have corners, ie round them off so it's an oval shape, and it won't peel off.
