We have a motor mover fitted to our folding camper but it is now only working intermittently. We have put the battery back on charge to see if that will help. Over the winter the battery was removed and stored in a shed. I'm wondering if the charge may have dropped too much and it is no longer any good. Does this seem the likely reason for the mover not working? My hubby didn't seem to think the battery needed charging during the winter to keep it topped up which is what I understood needed to be done but we're both novices at this sort of thing. Any ideas welcome please?

Batteries don't like being left standing for long periods of time without periodically being given a booster charge, the battery may be us

We disconnect our battery when its not in use and then charge it up every so often. We find our mover does nothing unless the battery has full charge!

You will need a fully charged battery to operate the mover, chances are now you will need a replacement, if you have a garage or a place for charging the battery then I would invest in a smart charger with this you can leave the battery on charge permantly with out any risk of causing the battery any harm, that way it will always be charged

We brought the battery in and charged again and it was enough to get the camper back into the garage. I think it will be an expensive lesson for my OH as I believe we will need to buy another battery as this one is obviously not holding the charge any more after only one year. I will just about refrain from telling him 'I told you so'!!

Most batteries will have a warranty longer than a year

On the subject of camper batteries, as we all know the battery for a camper is a smaller size than normal. My original battery went kaput so I bought one from a place in Tewkesbury for £50 next day delivery. This saved me £30 if bought from the camper dealer. Not had a problem since.
