Took the camper to Kwik Fit yesterday and they have quoted £270 for three new tyres - seems a bit pricey. Are they trying to rip us off or is this price correct?
When we had the FC I replaced all three with the correct type (8 ply van if I recall) from tyredrive. According to my budget spreadsheet that was £110 delivered in 2013. I then paid a local fitter a few quid to fit them to the rims.
hi benski, got two new ones from ebay last year £70 inc postage, 8ply caravan/horsebox tyres, company had excellent feedback, as gould above states, I paid a local back st tyre firm a few quid to fit them, been over to france a few times since, tyres are A1, IF you go on ebay and put the size you will get fixed up far cheaper than kwik-fit are charging
Look on Tyreshopper website. If tyres are the usual 165x13 car tyres then budget tyres for £40 each so £120 for 3. Even 8ply van tyres of that size are little dearer.
With Tyreshopper which is owned by National Tyres you buy the tyres online. Price includes fitting/balance & they are delivered to & fitted at your local National Tyres depot. Halfords are quite competitive as well if you have a tyre depot nr you.
90 for twof itted within the hour at a local trailer shop. Will never use kiwi fit again since they ripped me off on a Sunday for normal car tyres when I had no other option
Kwik Fit could not even open the bonnet of the wife's Focus to change a bulb(they had do it as it is a lease car, I was not allowed to touch it)Then they put the bulb in wrong. Total waste of space keep away.
Try mrtyre. Mine were under £50 each fitted to my Conway cruiser...car tyres but matching the load rating. They should be changed approximately every 5 years,as although may not look worn...the rubber may perish...leading to a tyre blowout. Personally I wouldn't go to Kwikfit or HiQ.
