Hello, thinking of buying a Pennine Sterling folding camper. Would anyone know if i could fit a fiamma bike carrier onto the tow bar A frame as people can with caravans. I have contacted a fiamma dealer and they couldnt comment on exact camper models but thought it would be ok fitted on the A frame of a single box....whatever that means? Any information appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I have a Pathfinder and I've found that there just isn't enough room between the towball and the front of the camper to ensure that any bike doesn't get trapped when turning really tightly. What I've done is fit a Witter carrier to the towbracket with an extended (height) pole that allows me to safely carry one bike + kids bikes as the extra height just lifts the wheels above the leading edge of the camper. I've got one of the early Pennine bike carriers on the back of the camper for another couple of bikes...wouldn't want to load any more on due to weight distribution issues.

Kelper: Is that just a basic roof bike rack on the standard Pullman rear bed support? Been meaning to ask you about it when I've seen your pictures in the past, especially as I noticed the other day (while the minions were helping me check the camper over) that the rear bed support had more than one position, I thought it only pulled out one click!

Be careful about overloading the car. You need to find out what the maximum noseweight is for the car and do some research. We have a Maxxraxx which you can buy a height extension for but the maximum noseweight for our car is 75kg. Our Maxxraxx weighs 12kg and an average bike around 14kgs so even with one bike you are up to 26kg, without the camper.

You could put the bikes on the car roof but again check weight limits. We gave up on the idea and have hired bikes when we have been away but this is not a cheap option.

Yes ... ordinary roofrack bike carrier across the bed support pull out .... I drilled two new holes to allow it to sit where I wanted it, and the retainers click in. Very easy DIY job .... just make sure you get the right nose weight balance.
