Hi there, we have just purchased a 1991 Conway Cardinal Clubman, we've managed to get all the electrics up and running but the fridge doesn't seem to be working, I wondering if there was anybody out there in the camping world that might have any suggestions on what might be the solution or how difficult it would be to remove the fridge completely??? Thanks in advance.

Fridge is dead easy to remove. Four screws on the front, pull it out, unplug the mains and disconnect the 12V / gas. What have you tried the fridge on? Mains, gas, both?

Hi thanks for taking the time to reply, I've only tried it on mains so far was going to try the gas but thought it probably wasn't worth it if it wouldn't work on the mains.

Definitely worth a try. Mains uses a totally separate element, which can blow, and leave the gas fully functioning.

Gas is easy to check, as you can see the pilot light through the viewing glass in the main fridge area. Do you have a manual for this fridge? If not, I can email you one, if it helps.

I'm going to be putting up again Tuesday after work, so I'll definitely try the gas then for sure, no I haven't got a manual for it, so that would be great if you could email me a copy. How would I go about getting my email address to you as I'd rather not post it on the forum thread.

I have had a couple of Cardinal Clubmans and am fairly certain that the 1991 one I had had a switch to change from car to camper. It's a black rocker switch and the centre position is off and (from memory) up is car and down is camper. Have a look and see if you can find one and make sure it is switched to camper (or may say van).

If you are on mains hook up I would unplug it now and see if you have the same problem. You haven't said if it is just static electricity you are experiencing so start by disconnecting the mains and let us know how you get on.

It might be a problem with the site electrical installation earthing. Report it to the site management to have it checked. I personally wouldn't use the EHU like that.

We have a potential similar issue so if you were able to email a manual that'd be great. buchj2000 at googlemail.com

We have just bought same model and seem to be experiencing same issue. Have had the switch on 'van' and camper has been plugged into via mains at home whilst we tinker with it all and set it up etc etc. Haven't tried the gas yet, but had hoped it would work via electric/battery. Likewise not quite sure where the viewing glass is.....
