We've got a triango box on the a frame. Great size but yellowed.
Yesterday I noticed that the clip part that lifts up and clamps down to lock is very loose and you can just pull it up and down over the metal and it just opens.
Other than getting a new one, is there any way to stop this happening?
------------- Please forgive my 1000's of questions - still learning!
Hi,
Sounds like the spring in the clip has broken or it is coming away from the rivets which you would have noticed I would have thought..
They are easily obtainable from Amazon and the like ,just bought 4 last week for another job (a couple of pounds).
Good luck.
Regards,
Greg
Hi Greg,
I don't think icr explained very well!
The latch part that clamps down the top (lid) can just be slid over the metal on the lid.
I think it just may be that after years of use it's worn away slightly.

I think I understand ,the rounded piece that retains the wire clip part has worn away.
Perhaps these can solve it (more like it on the site)
This is in no way being a male chauvinist ,if you are not happy to do this ,the 5 rivets (flattened pieces in photo) need to be drilled out M or F as long as they are happy to drill off the rivet heads .Shop online for the corresponding clip (or even just take off the top piece).
It must be drilled out correctly (don't pay a fortune for this) then new piece riveted in place.
Will have a look online and see if I can find a match for you.
As long as it stays within that moulding shape, happy days.
Will keep you posted.
Been trawling posts for the last hour picking up bits n pieces of info here n there my catch also needs replacing so thanks Greg your link saved me a lot of time and money ordered 4 clips (will use 2) for the princely sum of £1.70 free postage, right up my street!
