Hi everyone, looking for a bit of advice from anyone with a MaxxRaxx bike carrier and a pennine camper. We're getting a Dacia Duster and I want to get the 4 bike carrier but wonder if I will need the extension piece too because of the turning clearance between car and camper. Hope this makes sense! Any advice will be appreciated.

What is the max nose weight of the Duster? I expect the weight of the rack and 4 bikes will put you over the limit before you hitch the fc up.

Hi Rob and Tina, it's 1500kg. Would only be taking 2 bikes when using the fc. still have to get bike weights.

The towing limit is 1500kgs, the nose weight should be around 50kgs for the 2wd and 75kgs for 4wd
The Duster is quite light weight and I've seen recommendations of only towing up to about 1150kgs

1500 kg will be the max tow weight of the Duster not the max nose weight which is probably 75 kg but you will need to check that. Two "ordinary" bikes will probably weigh around 30 kg, the rack weighs 5 kg (that's just a guess) so that would allow 40 kg nose weight for the fc. Of course the bikes and carrier may weigh considerably more or less than my guesstimates but when you said 4 bike carrier I expected it to be carrying 4 bikes which could put you over the limit with out the trailer nose weight.

Thanks Darren. That makes it look like you may be ok with a 4wd Duster but not a 2wd. Best check all those weights before you spend any money.

From my experience with my Maxxraxx, Pathfinder, Shogun and two bikes you will definitely need the extension piece.

I have a maxxraxx premier 4 bike rack with a maxxraxx carry bag and webbing straps and light board only used twice would be willing to sell for £ 190 + p&p

The thing is we don't get the car till October and I'm guessing about the type of tow bar that will be fitted. I'm assuming yours is for a flange ball not swan neck. So the intention is to wait till we get the car and then buy the rack.

If you don't mind I will wait and thank you for offering to sell yours. If we've made our minds up then I'll look you up. Thanks again.

Hi Heather that's ok just letting people know I have one I would be willing to sell, you are right it is for a flange type tow ball, good luck with your camper we had a pennine Pullman for 5 years and a pennine fiesta for 3 years before that they really are a great bit of kit, sold the Pullman in March and bought a Gobur Carousel folding caravan again a great bit of kit and a bit more draught proof haha enjoy your camper
