Hi all have read how many of you have successfully adapted caravan porch awnings to fit FC by adding zips. My question is how do you sew zip onto main cover/canvas. Do you remove cover from frame??

What outfit have you got?
Pennines have zips on already so you don't need to sew a zip onto the main canvas.

Half zip gets sewn on to the porch awning of your choice. As said there's a zip already on the main canvas.

I have a pennine sterling. I realise I must sound thick but As The zip is the full length of the canvas how does the half zip on porch attach.

When you say half zip does that mean it's the length of trailor zip but only the one side of it ?? and porch placed along zip at required place?

I have one for sale that has been adapted by a lady called Lisa who is a member of this forum, it is like the one in the picture and has only been used twice.

maud good luck with trying to match the brown etc, as you can see by the picture they are mostly along the silver/blue colour lines, we used ours with the brown and cream canvas and also had green bed skirts so it was a mixture of colours but it never bothered us so long as all of the equipment served there purpose.

Yes it's been hard to match but I've purchased an Isabella porch awning yesterday on eBay which looks a pretty good match, so I'm hoping it matches as well as it looks in picture 🤔. I also found a company that does the zips so watch this space . I'm rather excited 😁

Actually one more question! Looking at the photo Macquarie posted above, How do you attach the sides of the awning to sides of camper?

You don't, you simply peg it down.

Maud there is a post edit button you can use, would have saved doing your last post, could have added to second last. This facility is only available for a couple of hours though. 🙂

I bought my zip from Brian Park Camping
You don't need the full length of the camper zip, just one long enough for your porch awning.
Again when I said "half zip", I mean that you will only need one side of it as the other is already on the camper main canvas.
I think the size is YKK 10 heavyweight. Check the zipper on the camper, it will have the make on the tongue, check and compare with the Brian Park website to confirm. If I remember the 4mtr zip was long enough for us, but check to make sure depending on the porch awning you intend using.
