Hi all after looking at various options of folding campers, we still like the Raclet Quickstop SE. But got looking round a Pennine Pullman and really liked it, problem is we have just got home and measured the garage and we only have 1cm spare on the width to get it through he door. Being a new build everything is smaller !
Does anyone else manage to get it through the garage door of okay, or is it a no goer ?
A Pullman is 212cm wide my garage door opening is slightly over 213cm.

When we had a Pathfinder it would *just* squeeze into the garage - providing I removed the "rubber" flanges on the frame - what the garage door sat against when down. Two minute job then once it was in I could screw em back on.

The garage was at the bottom of a downward sloping drive and I still managed to catch the camper door lock one time, pushing it back into the thin aluminium facing on the camper side.

If the drive is level and your 212cm is the Pullman's widest point it can be done, with care. Once in, the garage is usually wider than the frame anyway.

As you only have a 10 mm. gap then the folding camper will go through but check that the wheel arches don't protrude further out than the main body. However, I would fit some pipe insulation down each side of the doorway entrance just to help protect from scratching the paintwork of the camper and remove afterwards once it's in or out.

Do you know if the wheel arch trim can be removed easy enough to give a bit more room ?

212cm is what the manufacture gives.

On ours the wheel arch trim was screwed on, but against a silicone bead. So not easily removable, nor perhaps advisable.

If the width is that crucial, I'd go and measure one, looking down the sides to ensure you've included the door lock, wheel arches, compartment doors etc in order to get the absolute true maximum width.

Problem with that, is it will be near impossible to measure accurately, wheel arch to wheel arch or any other measurement in the middle of the trailer you can only measure the ends accurately.

I have the same issue, I contacted Pennine who said the 212 is measured at the widest point of the wheelarch / gas strut ball joints....bloody modern garages

My brother lives in a 30 year old house and i got him to go measure his garage door, and his was the same 213cm must be standard single garage size. With 2 or 3 people i think i will get it in. I will only want to put it in for winter storage or if i need the space on the drive.

One thing i did notice today is that it is narrower erected than when it is folded down, so what part becomes wider when it is folded?

i have a small lip at the entrance of my garage so certainly wouldnt want to be cutting it that tight! i have not measured mine but its a failry new house so expect it to be a simalar size. but i do have to 'bump' it in slightly as the garage is at the end of a slope under a coach house.

my quickstop fits lovely! i have a mattress against the back wall, and have an awkward pillar on one side, which i have covered with some bubble wrap and foam.

i suspect the extra width when folded is just the slight overspill from mattress and the units cover.


IMO i wouldnt risk a 1cm gap its just too close to call. perhaps you could try it though. it would be devastating to get it home and then not have somewhere sensible to store it

I do have room on the drive for it, but didnt really want to lose the drive space as it makes it awkward if we have anyone round. I cant be the only person in the world with this problem
How do folding campers fair being srored outside ?

Boosh- we store our folding camper outside. The salesman told us they were designed to be stored outside. No problem yet- but we have a new road cover. We were having problems with rain collecting on the top, particularly when we removed mattresses etc for the winter, but my husband has built a wooden top which helps.
