Hi all, we want to use the FC in October half term but I am already feeling the cold in my own home at night, let alone sleeping under canvas lol. We normally use a skirting board heater and leave it on over night but just know it won't make hardly any difference on colder autum nights. What do other do to keep warm in the evening, including in the awning. I just picture sitting there feeling so cold in the awning I will just want to get in to bed. Thanks

There have been a lot of posts on heaters that people use, it's a popular topic!

We usually take a week in October, last year it was mostly damp with a couple of beautiful days. The temperature dropped at night.
About three years ago we bought a convector heater with various settings, it warms the FC and awning quickly, at night we have it low and it keeps the chill off. The kettle and the heater don't like each other, together they trip the switch, we use a kettle on the gas instead.

We also bought a small oil heater from a camping shop, but have never found it as efficient as the convector.

Take cosy bedding, in our case duvets and soft snuggle rugs, warm PJ's and a hot water bottle.

Last year we stayed near Stonehenge and went to stourhead gardens, the Autumn colours were stunning.
Yes, October is a fabulous month to get away.

We tried it in our folding camper when we had one, the main problem is drying it out when you get home as you have to erect it and wait for some good weather.
The other problem we found was they are very draughty in the colder months and even with a heater they don't get that warm.
We swapped our pennine for a caravan about 3 years ago and have never looked back (just to much faffing about) for us.

With a decent sleeping bag such as a 3 season bedtime will be cosy we don't find ours draughty at all we do have a convector heater made by quest we like it because its a small electric log fire with flicker flames and that in itself makes it feel cosy
