So had our first outing with the SunnAir300. The Sunny has the slidy up and downy legs that are jammed in position by a hand tightened screw. I set up and leveled it as per the manual, ie set the tail end 5cm high, drop legs and tighten, then raise the front end with the trolley wheel until level and drop the front legs and tighten. So far so easy. I then chocked the wheels.

But what I have found is that with the family stepping in and out on the tail end the rear legs are being slowly but surely pushed back up.

Any thoughts on why and how can I solve this? I cannot tighten them any more without using mechanical aids. They are a bit stiff, perhaps a good greasing of the threads would help me tighten them more? Failing that I'm thinking of drilling holes in the legs at regular intervals. Advice welcome especially from anyone with stab legs of this type.

If easing the threads does not hold it I would suggest you replace the hand tightening ones with bolts then use a spanner to tighten them.

Thanks MD that's a decent shout. I tend to look at one very easy but unlikely to work option first ie grease the screw thread and then plough straight in with dangerous power tools as my plan B. I like your more measured approach.

The biggest snag with drilling holes apart from them being in the wrong place at times because of uneven ground of course, is that with your tribe leaping about in and out the threads are likely to get damaged and make then harder to undo when you want to.

Yeah I had thought about the issue with thread damage. I did think about just buying a couple of small jacks as an extra safeguard requiring no hacking or drilling and minimal time to deploy. Not sure how much they would be.

You could also either flatten the ends of the bolts so there is increased friction or make them more a point so they bite a bit.

Can you change them for wind-down steadies? Many TTs have the attachment points and, although they're a bit pricey they do make pitching easier and the cabin a whole lot more stable.

Oh right I did not know that there might be attachment points. I had considered just buying some of the wind downs and fitting them by hook or by crook creating my own attachment points. Being a Sunncamp and apparently at the cheap end of the market I suspect attachment points won't be present. I will take a gander, thanks for the steer.

Yep good knowledge lidds, just as you suggested, there are holes in the appropriate place in each corner of the chassis to allow attachment of something, which I guess means the scissor jack supports.

Just need to source some now? Current experience of Sunncamp parts provision is not encouraging, any ideas folks, I'm guessing these wouldn't need to be Sunncamp specific, they probably use stock parts anyway.
