Husbands hip has suddenly become painful (within the last 3 months)and he is due to have it replaced during the third week of April. We have no plans to use the FC until around the 28th July when we are going to the airshow which we had already booked. Has any one had experience of using and sleeping in a FC approximately 3 months after a Hip Op and if so have they any advice or tips etc. (We already have memory foam toppers on the beds)
Thanks in advance for any advice etc.
My wife has had a history of a bad hip culminating in a major hip operation to correct what went on before ( she was 6 months in a wheel chair) she has no problem with the FC and sleeps like a top.
providing all goes well, then i should think he would be fine, a good friend of ours [58] had one done early spring last year,up and walking around in no time and after around 6-8 weeks he was as fit as a fiddle, using stairs and cycling - liesurly not performance!! with no problems, so the luxuries of a countryman should be more than comfortable for him,

My husband followed the advice of his physiotherapist rigidly after his hip op. It is tempting to speed up recovery but its important to build up strength in the right way. The only thing my husband was careful about when camping was taking care not to twist the hip awkwardly.
I would say if your husband feels up to it then go for it.
Thanks for the replies. We are going with friends so he wont need to help put the awning up. I was just a little worried about him managing to get into bed. From your replies looks like he shouldnt have too much trouble with 3 month to recover.
We went away in our then caravan 12 weeks after my hip operation. Before we could use the van I had to change the spare wheels I used over winter which a few weeks earlier was a bit of a struggle. But once we actually stayed in the van it was fine. From your timetable it looks as if you trip will be about the same after the op. I would echo what others have said about being conscientious about doing all the physio exercises to strengthen the leg as it will pay dividends in the longer term. I don't know how high the settees are in a FC but the advice is that after a hip op, whilst recovering, when in a sitting position that the knee should not be higher than the hip. If that is a problem take some extra cushions. Hope the op goes well.
