The earliest we have ever been away was the end of March in our folding camper and it was quite chilly, especially at night - plenty of blankets and hot water bottles for the beds.
We use a convector heater in our camper. Fan heaters are great but too noisy for us.
Hi,
We use a gas canister heater in the sleeping compartment to warm it through before going to bed. Hot water bottles and a sleeping bag underneath and a snuggly duvet on top. We've found the gas canister heater is really effective in the main part of the tent (a huge Cabanon Jupiter) as well.
Be careful here. Unadvisable to leave gas cannister heaters on all night. Apart from fire risk, carbon fumes can be lethal. Ok to warm up but dont leave on all night.
Echo that ... using any form of gas cannister heating in a tent/caravan/MH/FC/TT is probably inadvisable due to potential carbon monoxide levels, which are undetectable by nose, and lethal. See the warning, below ...
We use/d a small oil filled radiator to excellent effect ... can be left on all night ... needs ehu.
I spent a night or two in November in mine - but this was in a drive so was well sheltered from the wind, and with an electric oil heater on for some of the night. A very full house meant that was the best place to sleep ;)
We are also new to T.T
We bought our Conway Crusader around 9 month ago but had a weekend away at the end of October.
This was ok in the day but the nights do get chilly.
Since then we have bought a little electric oil filled radiator that we leave on at night just to take the chill off works a treat, also we have hot water bottles and fleecy mattress covers which only keeps you warm but make the beds more comfy.
We had a trip at the end of march again cold at night but ok the day.
------------- A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work.
We find that modern electric underblankets work very well. Tun on early or eave on all day and pile on sleeping bags/duvets/pjs etc. so nice an toasty (including mattress) for the evening.
We went Easter this year and the coldest it got at night was 3 deg. We had a double sleeping bag which we open out with a fleece blanket over the top and we were cosy wam. First thing in the mornings having put our blow heater on via remote control we lie in for 5 minutes, and got up to a cosy warm cabin.
