Hi,

I have a Pennine Sterling and it looks like the voltmeter is dead - it does not register the battery at all even though I have full 12v power to all my sockets and water pump.

Are these an easy thing to replace and where would I get one from - obviously theya re a little outdated now (I think my unit is late 90's early 2000's).

Try here (second advert I found) for example, or a search will bring up a number of digital voltmeter listings.

Check the connections to the original first though, and if it's still not working I think I'd remove it and test it directly with a known good battery.

That's got possibilities if I can remove the display and retrofit it to my current unit. I was hoping to come across a full replacement though to make things easier as I can't lose my car/van/ hook up switch.

You might be able to find a complete panel from a breaker,
I think this one has been mentioned on here, or if Blue Sky Pennine sees this post I'm sure he'll be able to offer further advice.

Hi Craig,
If you don't want to disturb the panel, if you have a 12v cigarette lighter type socket I use one of the ones in the links below.
Find it more accurate than the one in my motorhome.

Thanks for the replies - if I can't get a second hand unit then I will look at a digital removable option - save me the hassle of walking around with a circuit tester and will preserve the look of the FC.

I'll try and find some pictures - but I bought a cheap 12 multi adapter on ebay and then cut of the 12v cigarette plug, and wired in a caravan plug - now I have 3 x 12v cigarette plugs free for usb chargers and lights etc.

I then also got a 12v cigarette lighter voltmeter and put this in one of the free plugs whenever I want to take a reading.

I'm going to see if I can fix mine in the first instance. If that doesn't work I'll use a voltmeter / cigarette lighter combination. Pennine have identical replacement units but they are ￡30.

Managed to get my unti fixed for £5 - I changed the broken resistor and it now works fine! Woudl have been a lot less that £5 is I trusted my own soldering skills...
