I'm looking to buy a pathfinder but the one I have seen advertised does not have a working fridge. I've contacted pennine and they advise me a new one is £550. Does anyone have any cheaper suggestions?
Yes, remove the fridge that is in it, which is a small three way and if you don't plan to camp off grid then fit an under counter fridge or freezer in its place.
We've opted for the freezer as it means we can take lots of things for extended trips plus ice cream etc and for keeping the milk etc cold we have a large cool box.
This arrangement has worked brilliantly including an extended 5 week last year.
Obviously if you are going to be off grid you may want another three way installed, but any three way of the same dimensions will do.

Could you please tell me which model of freezer you installed and how you fixed it into place thanks.

We purchased our pathfinder with the fridge not working.
Turns out there was a bit of heat coming from it and it managed to set fire to a degree!!!! i am taking it out this weekend and replacing it with a small one we purchased from Aldi to go in the awning. Fits pretty much flush and will be working, which will be a bonus.
If you need to takes yours out, let me know and i will let you know how easy it was to disconnect and take out!
from measuring it appears to fit with about 1cm to spare either side. but when ive sorted it all i will take a pic and see if i can upload it on here.
As for fixing it... urrrmmmm, havent sorted that yet.
Don't see that it's going to need fixing really. It's not going to go anywhere.Maybe a bit of suibley sized abtten down the sides to stop it moving back and forth whilst travelling?
The existinhg fridge is screwed in place from inside the fridge (remove the little white caps at the front on each side).
You will need to cap off the gas donh't forget. At osme point they started fitting a socket for th fridge, but on my 98 pathfinder the supply cable goes directly back to the CU
Was thinking about speed bumps etc with fixing it.
Which model fridge is it to be a good fit as lower than standard under counter fridges.
Sorry to keep going on.
Hi all.
Well i changed the fridge over the weekend. Turned the gas point off in the front by the gas bottle and unplugged it from behind the plastic vents. Removed the 4 screws (2 either side just inside the fridge) gave it a tug... it was stuck. We managed to get it out enough to remove the top plastic bit with the controls on. Managed to then get it out enough to take the gas connection off and then with a bit of will power it was out (was actually catching on the carpet!!).
Put the new one in (basic small one from Aldi) and it fits fine in the width. Got a small gap up the side so will put a batten or something up there to secure it more so. There is a gap of about 4 - 5" above, so will make a basic cage/shelf to go in there and can use it for storage. Our pathfinder had the plug set up behind, so plugged it in and bobs your uncle. All working fine. Seems a bit bigger inside but don't know if that's just because it looks newer or the fact we now have a working fridge inside!
If I knew how to upload a pic on to here I would.
Overall, took me about 30 mins and it was done.
**edit** I have put a pic of it in my profile pics.
