Having had 18 months of enjoying the Pathfinder, we sadly decided the time had come to make life easier for ourselves and have bought a small 2 berth caravan. It was only age and being less able to cope with the canvas that we finally gave in.

Went away for the first time for three nights last weekend, I missed the comfort and space of the Pathfinder beds, the sheer space of both the cabin and huge awning, and the ease of towing. (I do all the towing)

I like being able to access the caravan at anytime, towing it concentrates the mind more, pro's and con's for both.

Still have the Pathfinder, needs to be sold, but finding it hard to part with, how sad is that!

Did the same 2 years ago. Now got an Eriba Troll which is great. Still do miss the canvas though.

When we sold our first flat and bought a house my mum asked me if I felt a bit sad the day we moved. When I said yes she said that was a good thing because it showed that we'd been happy there. I think that selling your pathfinder is probably the same sort of thing. With any luck you'll have great times in your caravan and the people you sell the Pathfinder to will have good times too.

We had various tents over the last 15 years small, medium, pyramid, bell (4 & 5metre) airbeam X2 .but due to old age and all the aches and pains associated ,we sold all and bought a 4 berth caravan which we have put on a seasonal pitch, less than an hour from home ,in the last 2months we have spent every Friday to Monday away ,don't miss anything about the tents.

We had a Pullman for eight years and switched to a caravan last year.

Yes, we had great times with the FC, and were sad to see it towed away ... by a young family who are loving it.

The caravan is so much easier to set-up/strike and is more comfortable ... the only downside is: towing is more difficult, and slower.

If you enjoyed the Pathfinder it would only natural to be sad to see it go.
We sold ours maybe 4 years ago now and thoroughly enjoyed our few years in it and some friends still use it and enjoy it.
Like everything you get used to your new style of camping and hopefully will enjoy your caravan as much.

You get used to the towing. Getting a good set up for towing makes it all much more pleasant and a decent tow car aswell. The pluses for quick set up and access and home comforts for us are massively in favour of tin top for now, but who knows in future

We are on our third Pennine and second Pathfinder and did try a tin top in between, for us a tin top could not match the beds and space of a Pathfinder, We are in our seventies and possibly because of plenty of practice dont have any problems managing our Pathfinder, If or when the time comes that we can no longer manage, it will probably be the time to call it a day, For us the towing, storage and insurance apart from the need for a big tow vehicle a tin top was not worth the hassle. Its down to what suites different folks best.

Completely agree with all you say Dimbles, I would have stayed with the Pathfinder, my lovely hubby is a very young 84 but has broken his shoulder, elbow and wrist over the past years and has restricted movement, this means that it's up to me (in my 60's) to cope with pulling the canvas, etc, etc. We have a motor mover on the FC and gas struts, every little helps as the supermarket says.

But I know hubby feels less stressed with the caravan, and that's what having time away is all about. We have a lovely 2005 small 2 berth and about the have a motor mover fitted, I found an old Isabella awning which is fab to put up, and towing is within the capability of our Berlingo.
So we shall rock and roll on, hopefully for a few more years!
