Hello
We've just bought a new to us olympe, which comes with the side annex. We need three rooms but had thought we'd go with the central bedroom as the annex makes it very wide. Having bought one now with the side annex, I'm wondering if anyone had experience of using ONE, and whether it does make the unit too wide on site? We go to France on the main?
We've got one for our Olympe but rarely use it. It does add width but the biggest issue we had was it leaked around the skirt after heavy rain. Just isnt really worth the hassle, we now use the centre with an additional innet tent and a nice sim for our youngest son. Works fine.
Our holtkamper is 5m by 7.5m and our last 5 trips to France have had no
Problem fitting on a pitch , we are currently at ferme du prunay in the Loire and could fit the unit onto the pitch twice plus car and have room to sit out . The pitch up web site and select sites tend to give you rough dimensions of pitches and premium pitches are usually bigger than standard . So you should have no problems apart from some coastal sites where pitches are smaller . Municipal s we have seen here seem to have good sized pitches .
we have the olympe with side annex and only one site weve been on have we not put the annex up, we didnt need it that trip and not having it up gave our three year old place to play.
we have five children, 17,15,12,10 and three we use the annex as a bedroom or a bathroom depending on who is with us and how long we are away for. long trips we will some times book two piches and the older two have their own tent. If we are all in the TT we have the 15 year old and three year old share a double, 10 and 12 year old each have an under bed and 17 year old the annex. we were going to use the middle as a bedroom too but changed our minds when we had done a few trips as their is no where else to store clothing so now its used for that
Two normally share a double, then we set up a campbed in the middle for the night, putting it away in the morning. You can close it off a little, not quite as cosy as the bedrooms but it's been fine, hot and cold.
Forgot to mention that we've never had a problem pitching up in France - we've had the Olympe since 2011 and we mainly camp in France with it as we have a Karsten inflatable for weekends in the UK. We always use the sun canopy with the Olympe, which is the best bit IMO and we'd have been able to use the annex on every pitch we've ever been allocated had we wanted to. Its a big ol unit with the sun canopy and side annex.. but a very good one.
