We have just bought a 1998 Conway Cruiser, the awning on it is fine, but we are looking for a pop up awning (if one exists) or a caravan awning ideally not too expensive which we can use with our Camper as the awning with it is huge just for a weekend away.
I know this is has been discussed loads of times but if anyone has pictures of how they have attached an awning ideally without having to add a zip to it would be brilliant to see.

Hi have a quick look at my gallery, pictured is a 1999 cruiser using a suncamp swift 220 awning bought off ebay for £30.Never used the big awning, its so much quicker and lighter and a lot easier to dry if you have to wet pack.
good luck GCB

Figure 8 strips usually used for motorhome awnings as above
They are like 2 letter c back to back
One side is made to slide over a normal caravan awning.
The strips are just over 2 ft long and i used 4
If you heat the plastic strips up ie dip in a bucket of very hot water. The plastic becomes very soft.
This allows you to nip in one side of the strips down its length
Using pliers nip the strip in untill it will slide over your camper zip,but be a tight fit ,
If not tight it may come of on a windy day
while the camper is on a low position slide the 4 four strips over the campers zip
You can then slide the awning through the other side of the stips
I have a 1997 Cruiser and I am trying to do the same. I bought a Sunncamp Swift 260 from Gumtree for £40. I've just tried to pinch in the first strip and I have pinched it in too much so I am now trying to loosen it a bit.
I'm also trying to find a zip that will fit as I think this might be a better option in the long run but so far I have not had any luck sourcing one.

Little tip ,if i nipped any strips too tight,i filed them open a bit .Used the cheap files very thin 3 for a pound,it,s much easier than trying to open them up
good luck GCB
I have managed to open up the bit that I tightened too much. I'm still trying to get the hang of it... the water does need to be very hot. I have a big bucket but am still struggling to fill it high enough with boiling water to get up to half way on the strip. So far I only have half a strip done. I will keep trying.

i know some have put the strip in the bath to soften the plastic
I've just been trying again with the bucket full of water but my worry now is that they won't fit onto the zip... the bend in the camper roof is too sharp for them to fit around so they need to be clipped on in position. Getting the camper out later today so will have a fiddle.
