Hi Edwin, did you manage to get any more info on this (or better still find any pictures)?
Part of the problem is that we have a locker box on the front of our trailer so it makes it difficult for a person at the front to be of much assistance. So I have been pondering a retrofit for sometime.
The cost of the struts does not seem to bad and you can even get adjustable ones to help get the right balance.
I looked at some pictures of the gas assist on the Odyssee and the main problem will be getting suitable pivot points. From what I can see the bed frame is close to the front which makes this easy on the Odyssee but on the Olympee they are further back and will put a lot of strain on any spacers used.
Ah ha, found how they are fitted by way of this video.
Quite substantial brackets are used on the bed frame to move the pivot point forward.
What I have also noticed is that the frame seems light when folded out, ie wanting to fold back up. That in turn might explain the black strap buckle fixed on the bed hinge mounting post. I assume when bouncing around in transit it might otherwise want to unfold itself.
Thanks. When I have time and the weather plays might need to investigate some more.
Also notice that the beds have been dropped on the hinges to remove the gap down the sides when open. Saves things placed on the seats falling down the side.
