does anyone know how i can get hold of an awning for a 1987 conway hard top tardis as we put ours up last weekend and it tore along the edge that you thread through we have tried to repair it but not worked it has beeen very well used will try wanted ads but didnt know if there were any companys that might repair we live in the somerset area apart from that had a real good time away. srange thing though it tends to rain whenever we go
if you arent to bothered about it not exactly matching then you can use any normal caravan awning, but for the size of your trailer a demi awning/porchawning would fit and should be able to get a reasonable colour match
no there isnt unless you look on the conway owners site, as its an older model, and they where considered strange i.e. not quite a caravan and not quite a tent not many people have much knowledge of them, but have a look on ebay at the awnings as the size is in your favour as most caravans are a lot larger nowadays so the demand for smaller sized awnings is less hence the price is cheaper.
Hi - there is one on E-bay at the moment - it is green & cream - it says it will fit a Conway Jayco and Lazer and maybe others - could possibly fit yours but you would have to check - I think it has a few stripes at the front in green and cream - not sure if it is what you are looking for - go to www.ebay.co.uk and key in conway awning and it should come up - any problems get back to me and I will try and find the item number for you - kind regards
no thats fine i didnt have a clue.i think i know now.do you know if a conway jayco awning will fit as there is one on e bay but not sure if this will be any goodthanks kay
have a word with velveteen I think you will be getting second refusal as stretch is getting his conway at the weekend will just have to wait and see.
any awning will fit your trailer though just measure the roof rail length and then the height to the floor x 2 this will give you the total length in meters the only difference is that where the awning hangs from the roof on the proper ones there is canvas wrapped around something that looks like pipe lagging that you push between the body canvas and the support poles for the roof but its easy enough to make this using some foam and pvc from the tarpauline manufacturers.
thanks for that, the one on ebay does look the same as ours and i think veleteen has the same one as on ebay but wanted abit of reasurance befor spending out on a awning, good to know theres help around when you need it.we dont really know that much about camping yet but sure we will figure it out in time.
Hiya, we have a got a jayco laser 6, smaller than the tardis by bout 2foot so if its one of thoses on ebay you shud be fine. although it wont cover all of your hard top it will still do the job, maddy.x
Hi Everyone, new to the forum, but following the nightmare we have had for the last month, I thought I would let you 'Tardis' owners know our outcome. I have checked out so many sites to find a replacement awning for our 1987 Tardis (came supplied with a cheap "tunnel" awning), with little joy. You can get the lightweight awnings which will give you some space, but I prefer something more traditional. I checked out an excellent retailer in Birmingham (Tent Hire Ltd) who supplied me with a Sunncamp Galaxy Porch Awning complete with annex for £299. I have to say it fits like a dream, and really makes our camper and stacks of space. Looking forward to many happy holidays.
