Hi all,

We are now the proud owners of a 2005 Conway Crusader which was purchased during our trip up to Scotland in our trailer tent (long story).

The Crusader is great and we're really pleased for it. Just a couple of niggly bits that I was hoping someone would be able to help with...

The FC has the ceiling awning, all curtains etc. When the opening/packing up was demonstrated to us, we were told that all we needed to do was to remove the 2 clips for the ceiling (to loosen it) and to press the button in the tensioning bars so that they could move, rather than to completely detension them.

We have just rocked up to another site and have found that the canvas on the FC is incredibly tight - so much so that the straight up pole on one of the bed areas wasn't quite lined up with the hole for the awning pole and it took a real struggle to pull the beds out to the point in which they click and you can use locking pins. Looking at the tensioning bars, they now seem overtensioned and slightly bent. I have tried to get them back a bit but as the unit is now up and everything is tight (and the pole bent slightly) it is very difficult to do so.

Can someone please instruct me on the correct way to set up/pack away the FC. Obviously we'd like it to be as simple as the previous owners made out but are aware this could be making our lives a bit more difficult. We've watched loads of videos (which make it look ridiculously easy!) and read a lot but struggling to find a definitve answer.

2nd question.. On the outside by the toilet tank, the lower metal trim has come away and needs to be tightened and screwed back up. This also seems to have let some water in to the bathroom panel which has now flaked apart on the lower third. We have taped this for the moment so as to not to continue the water ingress. Would we be ok just repairing, sealing this back up and leaving the panel or is it advisable to rip it out and put in afresh?

Thanks in advance! :)

If you Google Blue Sky Holdings, you will find loads of info about folding campers and the manuals for most makes and models. We have a 2005 Conway Cruiser-still not sure that it is tensioned properly when we put it up- think the canvas may have shrunk over the years in some places.

Firstly I would always remove the main roof liner before packing away regardless of what others say.
Secondly you must lock the side bars before you fold, we made the mistake of leaving them unlocked as we had forgotten and bent the poles slightly and could not get the bed to fully push in so had to unfold and start again.

Also make sure the canvas isn't pulling and tearing where the holes are for the awning poles ours had to be repaired it was catching al the time and was very tight, you definitely learn from your mistakes

We also always remove roof liner and ensure the poles are down. When we bought our fc One of the poles was bent and after having the camper for 7years now we wonder if that is how It happened.
