we are driving to Lake Garda this summer and plan to overnight in Germany. OH doesn't want to unpack the camper for 1 night after hours of driving so we though of getting a hotel.

How would we make the camper safe overnight? I fear I wouldn't get a wink of sleep for worrying!!

I've been recommended to upgrade our wheel lock to a bulldog titan.... what else can I do or is a hotel stop just far to risky?

Thanks

My friends think I'm a toughie camper however, for years while over-nighting enroute to southern france, we've been using hotels.
Chain hotels like B&B, Ibis etc all have CCTV and in some cases gates that close at around 11 pm.
This is about double the price of camping, but I think worth every cent. You can arrive late (in any weather) and can be away smartly in the morning.
Tip- Google hotels in likely areas then check out the car park on Google Earth.
Go for it.

Decent chain/ hitchlock To the car, and a wheel clamp for piece of mind.

And as above Google map/ street have a good nosey at the carpark, have done this a few times in France.

I normally leave it hitched and reverse into an impossible spot, say against a wall or curb so it would take some effort to remove the car before getting at the trailer.

Often these budget style hotels have a gated carpark.

We often used F1 Hotels in France for overnighters.

As above, just back your rig up tight to a wal or fence ... ensure hitch lock is on ... you could wheel clamp, too ... though we never bothered.

As mentioned ... most of these hotels have security locked parking compounds.

Back it against a wall or fence and get a motorbike padlock and chain.
