I am having trouble with the handbrake ratchet of my Alko chassied Pennine Fiesta Folding Camper. The actual handbrake works fine; however, the "pawl" does not engage the ratchet, when I raise the handbrake lever, unless I press it in with my finger. It appears loose rather than tight. I wonder if a small spring has broken or become unhooked. Advice as to the repair would be appreciated or info as to how to locate an exploded diagram of the brake lever/ratchet assembly.

If you have a look at the Media & Downloads Section of the Blue Sky web site, under 'Other Downloads' there's an AL-KOmatic chassis manual, which may be of some use.

Eeny, mine went like that on the Fiesta, it turned out to be the operating rod from the handbrake button that was sticking. A squirt of WD40 down the side of the button solved the problem. I thought at first it was the ratchet spring.

Thank you Blue Sky Pennine, the manual goes adequately into the braking system but omits the function of the brake lever and ratchet.
