I have a Conway Cardindal Clubman 92 which although in good condition, the paint on trailer (not the panels) is faded, has a few chips in the front and some sort of weird cracking in the back (see pictures). I don't have any concerns about structural stability etc, everything seems to be superficial.

My question is, if I want to put a fresh coat of paint on what do I need to use and what kind of prep do I need to do?

As you can see in the photos, we've put a bit of CIF of the top / panels and got it looking fairly white (still needs a bit more) but the rest of it is more of a yellow

Can't see the pics either, but if it's the rear section (ie the fibreglass part) then it's likely due to age or poor prep when the paint was applied - the same happens with paint on fibreglass car bodies.
Any automotive paint will be fine. Rub down well first with fine sandpaper (1000) and then primer. There's no need to take all the old paint off as long as it's adhering well, you just need to provide enough of a "key" for the new paint to stick to. Allow coats to dry fully and use very fine (1200, wet sanded) sandpaper between coats - with any paint, it's all in the prep. Go slowly, lots of thin coats on large areas rather than trying to get it all done in one or two. It's a pain, but if you do it right the first time it won't need doing again and will look great.
A large orbital sander makes it more fun and less work.
