A small leisure battery would stabilise your transformer output but the system should work directly from your transformer providing there are no exposed battery terminals.
That's fine but get one which is made for a caravan or camper power supply.
It will probably be called a Power Supply Unit and should give out 13.8 volts. I would go for a 20Amp one so you have a bit of bunce and will run cooler.
Locate it where you will not be covering it with stuff like bedding. It needs to be well ventilated to keep it cool.
The link that was posted is the exact type of transformer what you need which also called a charger. It receives 240 volt mains power then transforms it to 13 volt power to the battery which is used to operate the water pump and lights etc.
I called it a Power Supply Unit because that's what it is.
A transformer simply changes alternating current (ac) from one voltage to another. It is still AC when it has gone through.
A rectifier changes alternating current into direct current (DC) but it is still a horrible wave shape with the voltage changing from zero to peak 100 times a second.
A smoothing circuit modifies the wave shape of the dc into a smooth steady voltage.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
This has confused me since I brought my mid 90's Countryman last year. I don't have a leisure battery and the instructions on the electric box door suggests that the 12v should work purely off the site hook up, or do I have that wrong:

We tried it with a leisure battery and the 12v system works but not purely with the site EHU. Any ideas?https://imgur.com/a/ka3kn

Have you checked the fuses? I'm not familiar with your system but if the 12v electrics work on battery but not on hookup then that suggests either the charger isn't working or the fuse on the output has blown.
Slightly more confused as the Fridge fuse, as labelled, is missing! The fridge is working straight off EHU!
Is it that the fuse for the fridge only protects the 12v circuit or could it be that the fuse box is labelled incorrectly and the missing fuse is why the 12v lights and water pump isn't working.
Answers on a postcard and please excuse my ignorance in these matters as the latter clearly cannot be the case!
I have just got a Conway challenger trailer tent . But there is no leisure battery just a empty cupboard with the wires at the back . There is a set of wires with crocodile clips hanging loose .
what ratting battery should I get ? 75 up to 120AH ?
What are the max dimensions of the Battery to fit in the spare .
Guess I also need a bat box .
cheers mark
