Hi, I have j7st purchased a 1992 Fiesta and have a couple of questions, firstly- when you connect up the kitchen unit it has 2 connections 1 for waste water and one for gas so how do you connect the fresh water to the sink?, secondly the water pump is a submersible type which on the inside of the cupboard in the camper has red and black cables going to 2 spade connectors on it, I have followed these cables back and it appears they go to the auxiliary tow socket, does this mean to operate the water pump I would need to leave it connected to the car?, I'm new to this so any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Hi and welcome, cbeds7. I used to have a 1995 fiesta (blue canvas) and had many happy family holidays in it. If yours is similar, the kitchen lifts onto the front cupboard, with the drain outlet over a little sump that drains to thee outside. Fresh water connection was a Hozelock connector at the rear (a bit of a pig to connect if memory serves), and gas was a small brass push-in connector with a red plastic dust cover.

The water pump was connected to a floor switch, powered from a battery in one of the cupboards. We were advised to get a mains hook up unit for kettle and light, and carried a small charger to keep the battery topped up.

Sounds like a bit of work with a circuit tester is needed - which pin in the aux socket is the red ( pos +) connected to? It will be either the permanent or switched supply. I suspect there used to be a battery there, with its own spade connectors. Alternatively, there might once have been a switched charger as well. Clearly something is missing!

Much joy with your new unit.

the water pump connect to a socket on the front of the camper, I was wondering how it connects to the sink as there does not seem to be any pipework from the inlet from the pump to connect to the sink tap

Hmm. Sounds like you might need to bodge something together. The tap connected by a length of clear piping to a Hozelock socket, that plugged into a captive male fitting next to the gas connector. I can't remember looking under the cupboard to see where it went, or how it connected to the rear of the external fitting. Sounds like it's been robbed out.

Any decent caravan shop should be able to sell you a length of the clear pipe and a few jubilee clips - B&Q used to stock it, not sure if that's still the case. Nice little project, though I'm sure you'd like to be trying the Fiesta out!

Bought it Friday night in Inverness off someone on eBay, had been put away damp at one point so the canvas above the kitchen was stained but it had been treated according to seller, took it straight from Inverness to grannies heilan hame in Dornock and spent 3 nights there, suppose will only find out if canvas is ok when it rains

Hi everybody, I too have just purchased a 1990 (I think) could 1992/93 Fiesta. I worked out the gas connection, ok. but the water seems to be a bit of a mystery too.
I have a waste pipe at the back of the cupboard, and a solid pipe running next to it. On looking under the trailer I can only see the waste pipe. On the right hand side (as you look at the trailer from the door) there looks to be a water link under the trainer at the side.
I'm thinking my water pump has been removed also at some point.

-------------

Cheers Rach
