New to the Pathfinder and no indoor storage available over winter. Was thinking of removing the lining and canvas from the poles and placing in one of those vacuum bags to keep moisture out. Anyone tried this? Any issues or success with it? Just wondering if it's worth the hassle of dismantling it all. Cheers.
issues? yeah where are you going to get bags big enough from? not worth the hassle, just put several layers of tarps over it and make it secure but put a football in the center so the rain water runs off and then secure it with plenty of bungee cords
Hi,
We have the trigano randger 575tc, same as the pathfinder. We bought it new in 2011 & it has always been stored outside. We remove the sofa cushions, mattresses & the awning but have never taken off the canvas. It has a layer of silver coated insulation material under the waterproof cover & then a winter cover. The canvas & indeed the whole unit remains in great condition despite the Manchester weather !
Hi, we've had our pathfinder for 4 years and always keep it outside (down south). We leave all the mattress, cushions and canvas (isocryl for our year) on and just put a winter cover on it and open it up every 2-3 months weather allowing just to give it a breath - never had a any damp or mould issues yet. We do remove the roof liners and all bedding. (and drain the water out of the system obviously)
When I had a Pennine Pullman, I used to put a layer of the large bubble wrap on the bed boards and then the travel cover and stored outside with the front end lifted so the water ran off the back end, opened it up for an hour 1 every month providing the weather was dry, usually when sunny never had a problem in 8 years, not sure about tarps as they could cause condensation, maybe if your worried invest in a proper breathable cover
We strip our Pathfinder down to the bare bones after a mouse infestation. We are lucky enough to be able to store everything from the cabin canvas and awning & mattresses to table cloth in our spare room. We keep the camper on our drive and open it on sunnier /dryer days to give the cabin an airing. Since we started stripping the camper down every year we have never had any problems, with the camper itself. Obviously we don’t have to worry about the canvas getting wet or damp as it’s indoors.
Have stored my Fiesta outside for quite a few years now. I put some footballs under the cover for a bit of air circulation and make sure I open it up when possible. I aim for once a month but never seem to manage that. I don't remove anything and it's always been fine.
