I suffer from the same affliction, I think it's called 'camping yearning'. Like, I just dream about going, dream about being in my (pathfinder). I'm doing it now, in the last few days. I've decided to head out this Friday. I haven't been in my trailer for ages and I feel a bit ..... like I NEED to go out.
As for your Christmas trip. Go for it. But it'll be blummin' cold, that's for sure. :-) I think proper caravans have it a bit easier than us canvas topped rigs, but you've got a little heater, and take your hot water bottle. Personally I don't like cold clothes when I get up.....but I know if Camping Yearning gets me, I'll just have to head off, no matter the temp!

Something about the cold seems so much less worrying when getting away from the usual xmas bundle.
I hear you, we had a really good two weeks earlier this year in our little rig in Cornwall obviously it was not the usual camping weather here, far too warm haha. We are off again as soon as the school summer holidays are over, for another week in Cornwall. Just never been brave enough to camp out of season before, though we did a week in lyme regis when it was belting rain and gale winds, still had fun and no problem keeping warm.
I suppose if nothing else it will be an adventure to go in December. Sometimes you just have to! I suppose at worst we hitch up and head home a bit disappointed but gave it a go. Hot water bottles at the ready, easy enough, we have kettle and hook up, also gas and electric heaters so hopefully that will keep us warm enough, just need a bottle of brandy and then we can try to cook a bit of turkey in the mini oven, what could go wrong! :-)

Years ago - 1990s - had a Litchfield and went camping in marchish. Frost on the tent and cold winds on a hill near minehead and someone's cat kept us company. Was fun,not sure I'd do it now with our daughter and ageing muscles. That tent wasn't exactly portable but ended up doing about 6 glastonbury festivals (or a's we know it Pilton pop )

i`ve done new year, and it snowed.
we had a ceramic blow heater on during the day and at night set a timer switch at 15 min intervals so on for 15, off for 15.
kept us warm and stopped heavy snow building up on top.
that and all the beer....

Take a small oil filled rad and leave it on permanently ... no sound, and keeps everything warm.
Pedantic note: Folding Camper ... not a Trailer ... Trailers have part of the main habitation on the ground and pegged out.

We camped in Italy at the foot of Mont Blanc in March one year. There was about a metre of snow and during the night freezing rain, on the pack up we had to get ice off the side facing the wind.
Had the heater on low all night and we were as warm as toast.
If it is dry I don't think you will have a problem, the worst has got to be rain and drizzle and that horrible feeling of everything being damp!
