Just looking at peoples thoughts on this.
We have got a pennine pathfinder 600dl.
We are still only in our 30s and generally quite fit and healthy. I do not want to fit a motor mover as we dont think we need a full blown one.
We are happy to move it about on site etc but the main issue we have is putting it back on the drive. It's tarmac and a slight incline. We cant reverse it on as the put the towing end up by the garage door.
We are looking at a motorized jockey wheel. Im happy to still be giving it a helpful push onto the drive to give it the extra that it needs.
So my question is, has anyone got experience with one and how did you find it?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
We do currently push it up the drive but I just want to make things a bit easier. Plus we are looking to change to a caravan in a year or 2. that will be having a motor mover but just don't personally see the need for one on the pathfinder.
The wife will be controlling the steering whilst I give it a push. Same as now.
If you put the towing end (hitch) near to the garage door then you will have to disengage the mover before the hitch reaches the garage so will require some manual effort to push the last few feet up the incline. Also, having a hitch mover will require extra storage space (unless you leave it at home) whereas a fixed motor mover requires no storage at all and can be used at your convenience at any time.
I have never had a hitch mover myself so can't speak from experience but from what I have read on this forum previously the reviews haven't been that encouraging.
Fit a motor mover to FC, take it off and fit to new caravan purchase.
------------- XVI yes?

Hi Tango. the towing end ends up about a m or 2 from the garage door so space is not that much.
We dont see the point of a motor mover just for that bit on the drive, especially as we intend to buy a caravan within a few years.
Have you thought about a hand winch which is what I use to help with my small caravan to get it out of our awkward back yard into the lane where I can then hitch to the car,
What I have done is to attach my hand winch to a length of box steel then on the end of that a fixed a coupling which attaches to the car then pay out the cable, fix it to my van and via a pulley system winch it out into the lane then onto the car.
All you would need to do is have a fixing either in your garage or in the ground and bobs your uncle and you problem would be solved and you could do it yourself whilst she who must be obeyed puts the kettle on.
I use a small winch like the ones they use on boat trailers which I picked up at a car boot a few years ago,
I use powered jockey wheel when on my drive as have to move caravan to put dustbins out as my drive is narrow but I use motor mover to put it on the drive as the powered jockey wheel will not lift the caravan up my dropped curb malc max
I bought one for my Pennine Fiesta last year and I wish I hadn't bothered. It makes quite a racket and the wheel spins when you encounter any real resistance, ie just when you need it!
Evidently lots of people love them (which is why I bought it, I had looked into it extensively) but based on my own experience, I wouldn't bother. I'm now looking at fitting a 'proper' mover so my case is a classic example of "it's better to pay too much than too little, if you pay too little you waste everything whereas if you pay too much you only waste the excess".
I had the same problem some years ago I used Powerwheel mover which from memory fitted in place of the jockey wheel it did work but also needed a bit of help when going up the slope. Since then when we had our folding camper I got myself one which also went in place of the jockey wheel I think it was called a CT1500 this thing was fantastic remote control too so you can see all round with it, it also had an onboard lithium battery and it would literally go over any ground. They are expensive but I kept an eye out and was lucky to find one 2nd hand. keep looking at ebay they are worth waiting for check youtube too for videos
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect
This sounds like something we could do with but I don't understand what you refer to. Can you post a photo please. Also, where can I buy it and what do I type into Google to find it? Thx
