Well..... we bought a brand new countryman late last year and managed to use it once, before we stripped it out and put it up on axle stands in the garage for winter. When we had the good weather week we got "Poppy" out cleaned , polished, put everything back in and checked tyres and electrics etc, loaded her up and we are ready to go, I checked the nose weight which was 59.5 kgs, spot on so all's well and good.
The overall weight was bugging me so today took Poppy to be weighed to see how much extra kit we could carry in her as we have loads of space..... O M G...... I was already at 800 kgs....50kgs over. ..... so now need a rethink as to what comes out and go's in the car. The main weight comes from two gas bottles , leasure battery and motor movers, not much more in there.
It got me thinking how many of you guys have checked the weighs of your folding campers?
Haven't weighed our Fiesta, but I have weighed all the kit including the awning and poles. That lot should bring the total to about 650 kg,but perhaps a trip to the weigh bridge is a good idea. Which one did you use may I ask?
Funny enough I used the one at our local recycling centre, I wasn't supposed too but they let me. The main reason I wanted to use their's 's was that it was immaculately clean where as the one at our local scrap yards was a mess.
I think it's definitely worth doing properly.

motor movers cost you 30kgs of your allowance and what size/type of gas bottles are you using? you could also save more weight by carrying the battery in your car
Tyger remember to update you outfit details in your profile, and you don't really need to do multiple replies.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Ok, not sure if I'm missing something but I have two 3.9kg propane bottles in the countryman each weighing 9.6kg full from what I have read, the light weight versions seem to come in 5kg so more gas weight, with an overall weight of 8.3 kgs, so would only save me 2.6 kgs overall ...... any other options that you guys use?
you need to couble check the weight of your bottles as I think you will find that a full one is between 9 - 10 1/2 kgs according to calor, so that's 20 kgs for both of them give or take, you would be better off using the 6kg size bottle weighing in at 11kgs when full and the gas works out cheaper on that size to when you replace the bottle for a full one
