Hi I've opened my Conway cruiser up today to find a puddle of water at either end over the beds. Fortunately we'd removed the mattresses. But the water had soaked though to the wooden boards. I've left it up to dry out, does this mean the canvas is no longer water tight? Do I need to seal the canvas before we can use it? I've never used it before so I'm new to this. Thanks

possibly be ok, once left to dry out again which you can only find out by using a hose pipe with a spray attachment on it, give it a good soaking over a long period of time to simulate constant raining and keep checking to see if it leaks, I suspect tho you will be ok

Canvas usually expands when soaked under normal conditions ... thus becoming water-proof ... As marg6 says ... try it out when erected.

I painted my bedboards with yacht varnish when dry, so as to avoid any damp problems ... worked a treat.

Don’t under any circumstances use any waterproof product on the canvas. Follow advice from previous people sat.

unless it has been waterproofed by someone before. then you will have to do it every 3 to 5 years. as above wet it let lt dry and wet again, may leak on first wetting. if still leaking after the second, probably been treated before.

Thanks for your replies. We've put the camper up to dry out over the last couple of weeks. We left it up when it rained quite heavily, the two top sections have leaked badly causing a puddle on the floor, what would anyone advise? Full waterproofing of the entire roof section? I don't know if it has been waterproofed before

yes but like we have said before above, it needs to get wet and dry a couple of times, then decide if you still need to do anything then.

only after doing the above a couple of times and it still leaking I would then treat it all over with fabsil, however you will have to do this on a 2-3 year basis after that, best way to apply it is using a paint brush or roller and give it a good soaking on the roof and allow to dry thoroughly, best done when your not on a site tho as this stuff kills the grass and it stinks! so will need a good airing

It's been rained on 2/3 times in the last week completely dried out each time but there's still a pool of water. So I'm going to have to seal it. I've ordered some fabsil so hopefully can get it done over the weekend. Thanks for all your help

I think somebody has missed a trick here ,was it the transit cover that leaked initially? was it stored with a slope on it to allow the rain to run off ? if the transit cover leaked and it IS possible if water is allowed to stand on it. as they are not made to be fully waterproof but breathable and they do degenerate with age.
As for the canvas Follow the instructions above and try to avoid reproofing at all costs.
