Hi All, i have just bought a Conway Countryman 1997. Great nick for year. It has mains hook up and battery charger installed, looks factory fitted by the look of it. Charger steps down 240 to 12 for pump / sockets, no battery is fitted and no sign of one ever having been. Can anyone help me with a “ basic” istalation guide please? Cheers Ed
240 was not standard then. 12v was very basic. if there is already a battery charger fitted. then an easy job to put a battery in between the charger and the electrics for the camper. depends whats been done with the wires from the charger.
Does it have a grey 12S plug installed which can be plugged into the car. That may power the lights and pump etc.
If so you will probably see a 7 core cable going to your spaghetti junction.
Is the charger a battery charger or a Power Supply Unit. It is probably a Power Supply Unit or PSU for short which is intended to provide you with a 12volt output to operate lights and pump etc. It may say something on it to suggest which it is.
I spoke with a nice guy at Wilmond caravan parts. I ran all the details by him and he has assured me its an easy job to introduce the battery into the circuit. Im handy enough to do it, tomorows job. Thanks for all the advice chaps, will let you know how it goes. Cheers
