After a stay out at Freshwater West this week, I was concerned that the TT was applying too much downforce on the towbar on my Mondy. Which was already fairly well loaded with kit.
To that end on packing up I rejigged the kit I store in the TT and ensured the heavier items were towards the rear - noting that I have a substantial kit box on the A frame that needs balancing out.
This has helped lighten the weight at the hitch, I can lift it off the ground more easily now, but it got me thinking, what should the hitch weight be, and how can I check what my TT is.
Sorry not sure I explained it very well, in a nutshell how do I check the downforce that my TT is applying to my towbar.
Thanks Rob, good shout, I'll get the saw out. I've had a dig and if I'm reading things right it seems anywhere in the 75kg to 90 kg range would be OK for the effective weight applied on the towball of a Monday Mk4.
Be careful putting that much weight through the hitch of the trailer. My Challenger has a max nose weight of around 30kgs, yet the towbar has a 75kgs limit
