I've read about breathable groundsheets but don't really know what they are or where to buy one.  We have the usual plastic groundsheet but I would like to be more eko friendly if I could.  Any advice welcome.

We have a brilliant one, it's sort of woven, almost like rafia type stuff, but plastic.  It doesn't kill the grass, nor does it let the grass grow through.  The type we have is made by Isabella, the awning manufacturers, so you would need to go to an Isabella main dealer to get it.  It's quite expensive, but we think it's worth it.  You can also get a cheaper type which is a little bit like the gripper stuff you get to stop plates slipping on picnic tables, with perforations.  I think this is good stuff too, but the grass grows through quite quickly.  Don't know where you live but we got ours at Highbridge Caravans, and I think it was about £11.00 per metre, it comes the standard depth of an awning, the cheaper stuff is about £7 or £8 per metre.  Hope this helps.

We've got the cheaper one just mentioned. Great stuff, very pleasant underfoot and all the dirt just falls through so you don't have to sweep it. Towsure have them as well as all good bigger camping shops. You can buy them by the metre and they come in a range of colours. I recommend them warmly.

We brought our breathable ground sheet a couple of yrs back as we wanted to be more friendly to the grass, the very first time out we managed to get an indoor pool when the heavens opened. But we do laugh about it now on a couple of occasions we have ended up with a right mud bath inside. In fact last year while on holiday just outside of Glouster we ended up having to move pitch as the whole of the awning area was under water I'm just glad that we tend not to let things like this get us down and see the funny side to it or we would of given up camping years ago
