Hello and a Happy New Year to All, I have just bought a 2008 Pennine Pullman which is fine apart from an issue with the water, the unit has a Truma heater fitted which gets hot but does this contain a pump or is the external Whale pump I clip into the side the only pump on the unit? I have tested the Whale pump and it works, I have tried a voltage tester on the inside Whale inlet socket and tap 12v outlet and seems to be power so can only presume it could be something to do with the Truma heater. Any guidance would be much appreciated here and thank you.
the only pump on it is the one you put in your barrel of water outside, so you turn on the water heater and wait about 15 mins or so, then when you turn a tap on this provides power to the pump which will pump up cold water into the heater forcing the hotwater along the pipe work and out of the tap, simple as that! don't forget tho you need to make sure esp at this time of year that you have drained the water out completely when not in use as the ice will burst pipes
thanks Marg6 I will give it another go, maybe the tap is faulty or a fuse somewhere. I know the Whale pump is working as I have tried this on my old Conway unit. Now I know there is no secondary pump that eliminates that issue so thank you.
do you mean like this one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARAVAN-MOTORHOME-CAMPERVAN-TRUMA-ULTRASTORE-WATER-HEATER/293406451553?hash=item4450632761:g:pGsAAOSwxcteD09r I think if thwe answer is yes its the same as that then its pretty self explanatory
Hello Marg6, I am just not getting any pumping action when I turn on the tap, the heater is not the problem I am guessing so could be a fuse or the micro switch on the tap. the truma heater fitted has two valves or taps which I now presume are to drain it down? Do these need to be closed off to prime the system? I will take another look at the weekend and see if I can rectify and thanks for taking the time to reply.
You need to close the 2 drain taps insert your whale pump into a barrel of water , open the hot tap, turn on the pump and that in turn should force out the air, which may take a couple of minutes, when the hot water runs freely without any coughing and spluttering do the same with the cold tap, always do this before turning on the water heater, if the drain down taps are open all that will be happening is the water will be running out the drain off and not reaching the kitchen tap
Just an update on my issue with the water on my Pennine Pullman, got the water coming through the tap and also the hot water resolved. Problem is the pump housing on the external unit where the pump slots in has two clips one top and one bottom that rotate to lock the pump in place, however the bottom one is missing so not getting a good connection, I guess I will have to buy the whole external housing which looks easy to replace. I have had a quick search on E-Bay and they all seem to be the newer version where mine is a bit different but I will get one no doubt. Anyway thanks to all for your advice and it was all appreciated.
Have a look at the Leisureshopdirect website, they sell loads of little bits like this. If you can't see what you want it's worth giving them a call, they are very helpful.
cheers Rob I will take a look, it is the old Truma Crystal Mk2 compact housing which has these fiddly clips that rotate. You can get a Truma Ultraflow conversion kit that contains a new compact housing and pistol grip on E-Bay for £40 which looks easy to convert so i will probably go with this. Just need to sell my old Conway Countryman now to free up some space so here's hoping.
