Levelling chocks are used under one wheel when you are pitched on a slope sideways. Yes, they are a wedge which you (generally) have to tow the unit onto and are indispensible on an uneven site! You then have a little chock to put behind the wheel to stop it slipping off the wedge - not that I could see this happening too often.
When we had a caravan several years ago, my husband made a levelling chock out of wood and the caravan never slid off this.
They are not expensive. I think we paid less than £15 for ours from Towsure and it's made from very solid plastic. I would'nt go away without this invaluable piece of equipment, it does save the wind down legs having to go up on tip toes!
