Hi. I am in the process of buying one of the above. I was wondering (hoping) that someone knows the weight of the awning and poles? I at the moment have a very small car and the ex works weight is 675kg. Thank you Becky

I can't find any details for a 2010 model but the ex works weight of a 2009 model is 820kg with a max weight of 1000kg.

What will you be towing with?

Rob

Oh no I meant a Pullman. I had a pathfinder in the past. May have to upgrade my car for the new season as I have a 1.25 Picanto hence may have to leave the awning behind :-( Becky

It’s funny how they don’t give you a weight of the awning. B

I've done a bit of digging and I think your figure of 675 refers to a Pullman not a Pathfinder. Has your camper got a fitted toilet? Pathfinder comes with a toilet but Pullman doesn't.

If you can give us your car details including engine and gearbox, year etc we can check the towing weights etc for you.

Rob

PS I'm a slow typist, your post wasn't there when I started. I'll have a look at towing weights.

Yes it’s a Pullman I have a 2016 1.25 Picanto sport automatic. I think the tow is 700kg so have to tow the trailer with not much in it (no wardrobe anyway, and no table) at least. Back up plan trying to persuade my husband to have a tow bar fitted to his van. My dad is going to tow it for the holiday I have booked. Bx

Some of the Picanto models have no towing weight figures available so check the weight plate on the car and check the V5 to make sure your particular is allowed to tow. Those that can tow seem to have a 700kg max like you said.

If you check on the plate inside the door there should be 4 weights listed. If you only have 3 weights then the car has not been approved for towing.

Regarding the awning weight, I doubt if it is below 25kg as my caravan porch awnings (with very little canvas and only a couple of poles) weigh more than that. Also the ex works weight probably doesn't include a gas bottle and it won't include a battery as that wasn't fitted at the factory either, my leisure batteries weigh more than 20 kg so I think even your "empty" trailer will weigh more than 700kg and put you over the car's weight limit.

you picanto as with all the auto models only has a max towing weight of 400kgs, so yes your going to have to get something a bit more suited to the job, a pathfinder has a max weight of 1000kgs, so your going to be looking at a car of at least a 1.6 deisel
