Hi we are going to pick up our new to us pathfinder later today and I was just wondering if anyone has any helpful advice or tips on setting up etc? We had a tt before so new to the folding camper world. Also does this model have 2 double beds or one king and one double? Thank you for any info xx
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Like us I'm sure you will appreciate the ease of setup of the Pathfinder compared with a trailer tent.
Setup is pretty straightforward, the only couple of things I can think of are to:
Observe the sticker that tells you which bed to open/close first.
When you fold the trailer cover forwards make sure you fold it neatly so it will fit its space on the front of the trailer above the gas locker. The hinged end of the front bed base goes through this area and can catch on the folded trailer cover, I dare say if you pushed it hard enough you could damage somthing. The front bed needs a light push against the gas struts to get it into position but if it seems difficult check that it isn't catching on the folded trailer cover.
Joc36 - what do you tow with? I used to have a Pathfinder and towed it with a Rover 45 2 litre Tid. It ws OK, enough go. But if I return to Pathfinder ownership again in the future, I would like to know if anyone on here pulls one with an Astra estate petrol auto, ideally 1.8 2010 or older (138bhp) but they are a bit old now. A later one is only 113bhp I think and not a lot of torque may struggle a bit. The kerb weight is AFAIR just over 1230kg, so 85% would be OK but for some reason Vx only give 1000kg towing limit. Maybe that is to be kind to the auto! (So the older one would be better I feel)Fuel consumption is not a problem as we only go away 3-4 trips per year and I want a petrol next because short runs plays havoc with DPFs.
Part of the reason for the 85% guidance with caravans is due their inherent instability, basically a big light box that can easily be affected by wind etc. A folding camper is the same height as the towing car and not as long as most caravans so likely to be a very stable tow.

Hi i towed it home with my astra estate, its a 1.9 diesel though. Didn't have any issues
the issue you might have tho , once fully loaded up, is your ger box overheating, i suggest you consider getting a larger oil cooler fitted, we had to with our 2.0ltr ford when we had the cardinal
