oh lord, I've just started and I have a long way to go.... we've had our Conway for a while now, we did it up when we first got it a few years ago and used it a fair bit. It's been sat on the drive since my parents bought a caravan and we've been going there. Conversation with husband sparked 'no I don't want to get rid if it' and a 'well you'd best get it serviced etc so we can start using it again'. I embark on the project yesterday to find that water has crept it and turned some of my girl to mush....
Current status is that both bedroom canvas's are going, just removed those, wood on bedroom ends is needing attention... floor and wall behind built in cupboards and drawers is shot... I haven't looked at the wind up mechanism area yet. The roof went up ok but I am assuming that the floor under the mechanism will need replacing. Watch this space, I'm sure I'll be asking all sorts of questions - ARGHHHH.
I had one of the original Jayco rebadged Conway Tardis these were discontinued around 85 after being superseded by Conway lasers these lasted about three years finally being replaced by your Cardinal model.
Your best place for help is the Conway's owners club.
Hi I purchased Conway Cardinal 1988 for £180 on Ebay, it had been standing for 4 years. When I opened it up all the canvas was rotten/some of floor at rear/back inside panels. The cause was pin holes in roof in back corner, stripped the inside cupboards/units out. A got to be a big job also the cost of materials soon added up complete remake of main canvas/bed pods £1500. New brakes shoes/ tyres new memory foam bed mattresses all metal poles cabin/awning anodised as some were rusty. I got another roof on Ebay cheap no holes, I also fitted a new larger electric roof vent. The floor was undersealed and I fitted a original underfloor heater Roy.
