Topic: Thinking of a Change to a Trailer Tent

We are thinking of moving to a trailer tent due to my wife's back problems and want something with the sleeping off the floor with fixed bedrooms and we have come up with two we like they are the 2020 Raclet Quickstop or the Trigano Galleon as we have always been tent camping i would like some thoughts about these two models if you are able to help as they are both around the same price and we dont want to go for a caravan as we both love camping

Have you considered a different tent with a bigger bedroom so that you could use 2 camp beds each with a self-inflating mattress on top?

The bedroom of your current tent may not be big enough for 2 camp beds placed side by side due to the sloping back, and the same issue may exist with other tents as they are normally designed with sleeping mats placed directly on the floor and not on a camp bed.

However, it would be another option and cheaper than a trailer tent that I believe is worth exploring.

For the price of a trailer tent, you could probably get a Karsten with extensions that suit your needs.

Hi if it was me and this coming from someone who has had a TT and friends that had a quickstop I would have a look at folding campers

Hi thanks for the feedback the reason why we are looking at a TT not a folding camper or new tent is that i will be retiring at the end of this year and next year we plan quite a few trips and a good number of these will be weekends and need something that as the pram-style quick set up and with this we can stop and be all sorted out very quickly and also very fast and easy to take down and when we use the Awning we want one with a zipped in ground sheet that's why we have came down to the two we both like

The Trigano seems have it all for just under £7000 the Raclet is the same price but does not have side skirts would i need to buy them has we are thinking about the drafts under the sleeping compartment

We have looked at the Pennine and Conway folding campers on line and watched the videos and they seem very time consuming to erect in-side after you pitch the trailer and dont want to do all that on a Friday and then repack on Sunday

Of those two, I'd go for the Raclet because of the non-pegging cabin. It's not just because there's no pegging (so faster and easier to pitch) but because if you get rain before you pack away, you have to clean all the mud flaps to stop muck transferring to the cabin roof canvas when you lift it all up and over. I speak from experience (not these particular models but from others of the same style - we've had both).

Have a look at a Riva or Dandy Designer. Very quick to erect etc, PVC so can be packed away wet and left for months without rot or mould, warm in winter, cool in summer, good comfy beds etc etc.

Google, Campmaster Air it is like a trailer in a tent I love mine it is quite big when set up but small and easy to store when packed away also very light to tow.

If you are looking for something really really quick to put up, have a look at the Combi Camps or the Camplets. We used to have a Combi camp and I still look back on it as the best unit we ever had. You can put up the main cabin in 30 seconds which is ideal for stop overs or short weekends but if you plan to stay for longer, you can attach the awning. We also had a pop up gazebo which we sometimes used instead of the awning if we wanted some shelter but couldn’t be bothered with the full awning. It had the most enormous huge kingsize bed and with a memory foam mattress topper, I have never slept better anywhere either before or since!

Camplets go up all in one, so the awning is attached to the main unit and everything goes up together so if you plan to use an awning a lot, the Camplet would be quicker than a Combi camp plus awning.
