Hi all. I’ve been searching for winter tips but most videos posts cover caravans rather than folding campers do wandered what people on here do. We don’t have the facility to store in garage or under a shelter. It will be put in the corner of the drive next to the wall and house which will shelter it from most weather. I also bought the all weather full cover from pennine and the drive had a gradient so water won’t pool on top. My plan is to remove the leisure battery and place that indoors and put it into an 80% storage charge. Bulldog do steel wheels to stand the van on so thinking they would be better than leaving tires on all winter
Insurance might not cover you if putting winter wheels on as obviously you can’t move it if say there was a fire in your house.
Axle stands might be a better option.
Personally I just pushed ours to rotate tyres once a month.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

B when I had a pennine pullman all the dirty water runs onto the drive and not the front locker and drawbar etc, remember to drain your hot and cold water, toilet flush tank and cassette, I used to cover the folded bed boards with sheets of large bubble wrap place a small cushion on top then the travel cover and finally a bespoke breathable cover that I bought for the pullman, the cushion or something like will stop the pooling of water on the cover, I would open the camper on a dry sunny day to air it once a month depending on the weather, never had any problems with water ingress or mould
I put a roof box under the winter cover ... was a good place to store the roof box (really only used when camping), and created a great 'dome' for water drainage.
Removed all soft furnishings/mattresses/cushions etc and stored under beds in house.
Over the past 20 or so years we have had three Pennines two of them being Pathfinders. When we first started we went through two of the very expensive pennine covers at about three year intervals before realising they are no better than the cheap Ebay jobs.
I cant remember how many years ago, but we started using a waterproof canvas over the winter cover. This made a tremendous difference, in keeping everything underneath nice and dry, and protects our Ebay winter cover , that is now nine years old and still in good condition. I would not trust any of the so called all weather covers on our Pathfinder without an additional canvas over the top. We dont bother wether the camper is nose down or up, because the rain cannot get to the camper.
Since using an additional canvas cover, all of the furnshings, bedding, pillows and cushions have all been left inside our camper over the winters, without having encountering any problems.
I'll be doing this for the first time to my crusader. Like you it lives on a sloping driveway.
My plan is all soft furnishings/bedding out.
Drain any/all water out.
Remove battery and keep it on trickle charge.
Winter cover on.
Air out when have time over winter.
I'm not planning to remove the wheels, going to see how they fair as is. Might cover them so at least UV damage won't be an issue, though I treat them for that anyway.
We're going away In it in October and probably in February next year. So it's not going to be sitting un-used for very long really.
One thing I forgot to add. I was told if possible to leave the handbrake off. Apparently drum brakes can seize up on if left applied for long periods. I was thinking a good set of chocks and chain the camper to a solid anchor and it should then be ok with the handbrake off. Even on a slope.

as long as the steadies are down then you wont have any movement.

in the 10 years we had our folding camper, we never removed the soft furnishing, simply because we didnt have anywhere to put them! what we did do was on nice sunny dry days was open the door of it to allow air to circulate, and we never had one problem with doing that. yes the actuall sleeping bags and pillows got took into the house, washed/dried and ready to be put back in
Never took the soft furnishings out of ours either, and there was never an issue.
But each to their own.

I'm on quite a steep sloping drive so wouldn't want to risk it to the steadies alone. Though I'm also planning to chain it down as another anti theft option in addition to helping hold it with the handbrake off.
