Hi all I have just purchased a Raclet Solena 2010 model is there anything I should look out for that they are prone to eg. hinges, sliding mechanism. I have had trailer tents in the past but not one like this where the lid becomes the floor
any info. would be appreciated
Richard
I can’t comment specifically on the Raclet but we used to have a Combi Camp where the lid becomes the floor and the main thing we had to be careful about was if we were setting up on uneven ground. Because the lid flips over and then drops down to become the floor, if the lid doesn’t sit flat on the ground it can put a lot of extra strain on the hinge. I am not sure if the Raclet is similar but it might be worth looking out for.
Hi tewkesbury, I was thinking of getting a Raclet Solenas; I was wondering how you are getting on with it? Have you been out for a camping trip in it yet?
I have recently downsized my car so now I have a Toyota Yaris, so a small trailer tent is probably about as much as I am going to be able to tow. Although, according to the Camping and Caravanning Club Tow Matching Service I should be able to tow a Gobur Carousel Folding caravan; just the small, 10' 2 berth one.
Anyway, would be interested to hear of your experiences with the raclet so far.

I have a 2016 Raclet Solena which I’m looking to sell, if you’re anywhere near Chislehurst (Bromley) area you’re welcome to come and have a look.
They are great, light, easy to erect units but my family has grown so doesn’t get used now
Hi Edgebury, I have only just seen your post, hence the delay in replying.
Chislehurst would be quite a trek for me as I'm right over the other side of the country, in North Somerset. However if your Raclet is still available in the spring it might be worth me coming over to have a look.
I'm not a very regular site member so don't know how to send private messages (obviously you won't want to post your address on the forum)
However, if your Raclet is 2016 you may be asking more than I can run to at the moment, as I'm only able to look at the 'budget' end of ranges!

No problem, I understand regarding distance. I’m going to keep it advertised until sold so it could well still be with me come spring. Here’s a link to my advert so you can see and potentially keep an eye on it
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Hello Pixie Hez thanks for your reply i thought if anything it would be about hinges
Apologies for not replying before have had a lot of personal going on
Thanks again Richard
Hi CyberCynth nno we haven't used the trailer yet I'm afraid we are warm weather people a few years older than yourself and my wife i arthritic
I would suggest if you are alone to see one of these tents and try putting it up yourself as the initial opening and closing lift is a bit heavyI find but once up it is great we don't have an awning but i bought a 2mtr.square gazebo to go with ours I also fitted a small plastic garden box to A frame to carry toilet and extras
Looking forward to warm weather next year to use it all
Good luck on whichever way you choose to go
Richard

Thanks Richard, there's a dealer about 15 miles from me who sells Raclet trailer tents. I'm waiting until they get a Solena so that I can go and ask for a demo and a chance to set it up myself, to see if I could manage one on my own.
I have a gazebo, and was wondering whether that might be an alternative to faffing about with an awning, although even easier than that would be to put up the sun canopy!
I sympathise with the 'fair weather' camping lifestyle! It's one reason I'd rather get a caravan really, as I can't envisage being able to keep warm enough under canvas in cold weather. I like to go out all year round, so may well decide to spend longer saving my pennies until I can get a unit in which I can keep warm. I have a frame tent at the moment which I love for its spaciousness, but it's too cold (and wet) to take it out at this time of year.
