Hi,
look for the wattage on the appliance (a kettle might say 2000w or 2Kw for example), divide this figure by 230 (volts) and there's your answer. How many things can be used at the same time depends on what hook-up you're on (10 amp, 16 amp or whatever) - just add the amps for each appliance, and don't go over the supply spec. or you'll trip the breakers!
