So, we made the relatively impulsive decision to purchase a folding camper as we thought it would be the best option for us, given my car can only tow around 1100kg and the wife not bring a massive fan of tent camping.

We went for the Pennine Fiesta (2015 model) and acquired a lovely example, however after just the one trip away in it we came to the conclusion it doesn't fit our requirements of nipping away for Weekends several times a year. The main reason, it just takes too long to set up. It took us over two hours to set it up, however we appreciate it was our first time and it was raining but nevertheless I doubt I could shave more than 45 mins off this. Obviously when I say set up,I mean everything, camper up, awning up and pegged, accessories all in place etc and first beer opened. We can set our large tent up in less than an hour easily.

Once set up, it was great and we could see the potential but come to packing away, it took another two hours because we were conscious of putting everything away bone dry and luckily we had fine weather, but I can imagine it would be a royal p.i.t.a if it was raining or windy.

So we decided it isn't for us and we will return to camping (with some wife friendly upgrades) with a view to a caravan down the line somewhere.

In my opinion, folding campers are not for quick getaways but would be brilliant for week long or more trips. I'm sure some will disagree but that was our feelings, so now we have a camper for sale
